MeTalk Privacy Policy

MeTalk is a child-friendly NFC communication application developed by LG Joinery. This Privacy Policy explains how MeTalk handles information when the application is used.
- Information collected by LG Joinery
MeTalk does not require users to create an account or provide their name, email address, telephone number or other personal information.
LG Joinery does not collect, transmit or store the words and phrases entered into MeTalk on its own servers. The application does not contain advertising and does not use third-party advertising or tracking services.
- NFC tag information
Parents and carers can use Parent Mode to write words or phrases directly to compatible NFC tags. In Child Mode, MeTalk reads the information stored on an NFC tag and speaks it aloud.
NFC tag contents are processed locally by the device. LG Joinery does not receive or retain this information.
NFC tags can be read by other compatible NFC devices. Parents and carers should therefore avoid writing confidential, identifying or sensitive personal information to an NFC tag.
Information written to a tag will remain on that tag until it is overwritten, erased or the tag is otherwise reset.
- Parent Mode passcode and app preferences
A Parent Mode passcode and relevant app preferences may be stored locally on the user’s device. This information is used only to operate the application and protect access to Parent Mode.
LG Joinery does not receive or have access to the passcode. Local app information can be removed by clearing MeTalk’s app data or uninstalling the application. Uninstalling MeTalk does not automatically erase information stored on physical NFC tags.
- Text-to-speech services
MeTalk uses the Android device’s installed text-to-speech service to speak words and phrases aloud. Text is passed to the text-to-speech service selected on the device.
The handling of information by the selected text-to-speech provider may be governed by that provider’s own privacy policy. LG Joinery does not receive or store the spoken text.
- Device permissions
MeTalk uses NFC functionality to read and write compatible NFC tags. It may also use the device’s speaker, sound and vibration features to provide feedback.
MeTalk does not use the device’s camera or microphone and does not record conversations or audio.
- Children’s privacy
MeTalk is intended to be set up and supervised by a parent, carer, teacher or other responsible adult. LG Joinery does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the application.
Parents and carers are responsible for choosing appropriate words or phrases and supervising the use of NFC tags.
- Data sharing and selling
LG Joinery does not sell MeTalk user information. Because MeTalk does not transmit app content to LG Joinery’s servers, LG Joinery does not share NFC messages, Parent Mode passcodes or app preferences with other companies.
- Data security
MeTalk is designed to process its main information locally on the device and NFC tag. Users should keep their device secure and retain physical control of NFC tags containing information.
No method of electronic storage is completely secure, so users should not place confidential or sensitive personal information on NFC tags.
- Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if MeTalk’s features or data-handling practices change. Any revised version will be published on this webpage with an updated effective date.
